Resources for scanning
To ensure that you receive the best possible helmet we need an accurate scan and good clear images. If you need some help capturing a good scan, please see our instructional video here.
A good scan is vital for ensuring that the helmet fits well and will be successful. Scanning infants can pose some challenges. We recommend the following to assist in getting a high quality scan:
- Use a high spec white light scanner, with quality capture software. We recommend either the BodyScan or EinScan H2 coupled with MSoft capture and measurement software.
- Utilise a black hair-dressers apron to cover the infant’s body and isolate the head for scanning. Ensure the apron does not cover the nape of the neck.
- Seat the infant on the carers lap, or in a seating device.
- Provide distractions for the infant
- Always convert your scan file to a mesh while still in the scanning appointment. This will allow you to see whether the scan is complete and give you an opportunity to re-scan before the infant leaves the clinic.
